Position: Caregiver for Infant (10 months old)
Location: Richmond
Wage: $19/hour
Hours: 40 hours per week (full-time)
Job Description:
We are seeking a patient, responsible, and caring caregiver to provide full-time care for a 10-month-old infant in a safe and nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Daily Infant Care: Feed the baby on schedule (milk/formula, solid foods as introduced), burp after feeding, and monitor for allergies or reactions.
- Hygiene & Comfort: Change diapers regularly, bathe the baby, dress appropriately according to weather, and maintain the child’s comfort.
- Sleep & Routine: Establish and follow consistent nap and bedtime routines to support healthy sleep habits.
- Developmental Activities: Engage the child with age-appropriate play, songs, reading, and exercises to support physical and cognitive development.
- Safety Supervision: Ensure the baby’s safety at all times, including during play, feeding, and sleep. Remove hazards and follow safe sleep guidelines.
- Health Monitoring: Observe and report any signs of illness, discomfort, or developmental concerns to the parents. Administer minor first aid if necessary.
- Emotional Support: Provide comfort, affection, and reassurance to help the baby feel secure and happy.
- Light Child-related Housekeeping: Wash bottles, sterilize feeding equipment, prepare baby food, tidy play and sleep areas, and keep baby’s laundry clean.
- Parent Communication: Maintain open communication with parents about the baby’s daily progress, routines, and any issues or changes noticed.
Requirements:
- Prior experience in childcare or as a caregiver/nanny preferred
- Knowledge of infant development, feeding, and safety practices
- Patience, reliability, and a genuine love for children
- CPR/First Aid certification (an asset)
- Secondary school is usually required
