About the Role
We are seeking a qualified Software Developer to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, integrating, testing, and maintaining software solutions that automate the firm's internal accounting and tax filing workflows. This is a technically specialized role requiring hands-on software development experience combined with the ability to work effectively in a professional services environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop and test custom software code to automate the firm's internal accounting, document management, and tax filing workflows
- Research and assess third-party software tools and platforms suited to the firm's tax and accounting automation requirements
- Work with accounting staff and firm management to gather and document functional requirements for each automation project
- Contribute to the preparation of system specifications and technical blueprints prior to development
- Develop and integrate code for the firm's online client portal, enabling secure document submission and real-time file status updates
- Design and implement robotic process automation scripts to eliminate repetitive manual tasks in client data processing and CRA submission workflows
- Carry out structured testing and security validation of all developed systems to confirm data integrity and compliance with applicable privacy legislation
- Review, update, and maintain all automation programs on an ongoing basis to reflect changes in CRA systems, tax regulations, and firm requirements
- Prepare technical documentation, user guides, and system manuals for all developed and implemented software solutions
- Provide ongoing technical support and guidance to internal users following implementation of each automation solution
- Communicate technical issues and proposed solutions in clear, accessible language to non-technical accounting staff and firm partners
What We Are Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum 3 years of professional software development experience
- Proficiency in one or more of the following: Python, JavaScript, or similar programming languages
- Demonstrated experience building software integrations and API connections between business platforms
- Experience with workflow automation or robotic process automation tools is a strong asset
- Familiarity with accounting or tax software environments is preferred
- Knowledge of Canadian data privacy legislation (PIPEDA) is an asset
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple development tasks simultaneously
