Job Summary:

Spirit Ridge is seeking Line Cooks to join our culinary team. Reporting to the Executive Chef, Line Cooks prepare and cook food for the resort's restaurants, bars, market and banquet and event operations, ensuring consistent, high-quality food for our guests.

Youth and early-career cooks who meet the experience requirement are encouraged to apply, including graduates of culinary programs and completed apprenticeships. Subsidized staff accommodation is available for applicants relocating for the season.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Prepare and cook complete meals and individual dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner service according to established recipes, portions, and presentation standards

  • Prepare, set up, and present buffets and food for banquets and resort events

  • Prepare meals for guests with special dietary requirements, including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free dishes

  • Ensure all food prepared and served meets established quality and presentation standards

  • Fulfill guest food requests in accordance with established standards and policies

  • Receive, store, and rotate food items, minimizing spoilage and making effective use of food surpluses

  • Monitor food and supply levels and report inventory needs to the Executive Chef

  • Recommend improvements to ingredients, menus, cost savings, and equipment to the Executive Chef

  • Train and guide kitchen helpers and junior kitchen staff, as needed

  • Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and utensils, and follow food safety and sanitation procedures in accordance with BC public health requirements

  • Operate kitchen equipment correctly, keep it clean, and report required repairs to the Executive Chef

  • Follow all fire, safety, and emergency procedures

  • Perform other related duties as required to support operations

 

Wage/Salary: $20.00/hour

Benefits: 

  • After 3 months of employment, employees may enroll in the company benefits program, with premiums shared between employee and employer

  • Access to subsidized staff accommodations is available for full-time employees

  • Employees are eligible to receive up to fifty cents per hour in additional wage premiums, paid and earned in accordance with company policy.

Hours Per Week: Minimum of 30 hours per week; up to 40 regular hours per week during peak seasonal periods

Terms of Employment: Seasonal, Full-Time, 269-day contract from March 1, 2027 to November 24, 2027 (Part-Time Applicants are encouraged to apply now for both off-season and seasonal opportunities).

Requirements

Education: No Minimum Education Requirement

Work Experience: At least 2 years of verifiable commercial cooking experience in a restaurant, hotel, resort, banquet, or institutional kitchen

Skills Requirements:

  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and cook a variety of dishes to established recipes and presentation standards

  • Must be able to bend, crouch, lift overhead, and stand on feet for extended periods of time

  • Must be able to lift, carry, and push up to 23 kg (50 lb)
