Tasks

• Operate and drive tractor-trailer units with flatbed trailers to transport goods and materials safely to designated destinations.
• Load and unload freight from flatbed trailers, ensuring cargo is handled safely and efficiently.
• Secure cargo using chains, straps, binders, tie-downs, and other approved load-securing equipment to prevent shifting or damage.
• Tarp and cover load with appropriately sized tarps to protect freight from weather and road conditions.
• Inspect cargo and load securement before departure and throughout transportation to ensure shipment safety and compliance.
• Plan and follow assigned routes using GPS and navigation equipment while complying with applicable transportation and road-safety regulations.
• Maintain communication with dispatchers, customers, and shipping/receiving locations regarding pickups, deliveries, trip status, delays, and route requirements.
• Maintain accurate driver logs and trip documentation, including hours of service, cargo information, distance travelled, and fuel consumption using electronic logging devices (ELD).
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections and monitor the overall condition of the vehicle to ensure compliance with safety and maintenance standards.
• Perform basic roadside repairs and troubleshooting and coordinate with maintenance teams for major mechanical issues.
• Ensure the timely and safe delivery of freight while following all transportation, safety, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation related to deliveries, cargo, vehicle inspections, and transportation activities.
