Job Details
• Salary: $21 per hour, 35 - 44 hours per week
• Terms of Employment: Permanent, Full-time

• Work Setting: Work in employer’s home, scent-free, no-smoking

Languages
• English required
• Ability to communicate in Mandarin is an asset ( the senior understands Mandarin only);

Education
• Secondary (high) school graduation certificate

Experience
• Minimum 1 year of formal, hands-on work experience independently caring for seniors with mobility impairment, mild cognitive impairment, and fall risks. Volunteer work, training placements, practicums, and other supervised training experience do not count toward this requirement;
• Reference required

• First Aid Certificate required

Tasks and Responsibilities
• Assist with personal care and hygiene, including grooming, dressing, toileting, and maintaining a clean, comfortable living environment.
• Provide close supervision and fall-prevention support during walking, transfers, and daily activities, ensuring her safety at all times.
• Encourage and assist with gentle exercises and mobility routines, following recommendations from family or therapists to help maintain strength, balance, and coordination.
• Offer gentle reminders and structured routines to help manage memory lapses and promote confidence in daily living.
• Engage her in simple, meaningful cognitive activities such as conversation, reading, music, or memory games to stimulate thinking and slow cognitive decline.
• Prepare and serve healthy meals, monitor eating habits, and assist with feeding if needed.
• Administer or remind medications as directed, and observe for any side effects or changes in mood or condition.
• Provide companionship and emotional support, promoting trust, calmness, and a positive outlook through friendly interaction and encouragement.
• Accompany her to appointments or outdoor walks, ensuring safety, comfort, and social engagement.
• Maintain clear communication with family members about her health, mood, and daily progress.
• Perform light housekeeping related to her care, including laundry, sanitizing common areas, and organizing personal items to reduce fall risks.
• Strong communication and patience are essential to provide reassurance, give clear instructions during mobility exercises, and help her stay oriented and emotionally comfortable.
