About Ontario Chrome

Ontario Chrome is an Oakville-based industrial services company specializing in hard chrome plating, precision grinding, honing, polishing and specialty coatings. We are seeking an experienced Machinist to join our team at our Oakville facility.

Key responsibilities

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and specifications to determine the machining operations required.
  • Calculate dimensions and tolerances and lay out work pieces for machining.
  • Set up, operate, maintain and adjust conventional and computer numerical control (CNC) machine tools.
  • Operate cylindrical grinders, honing machines, lathes and other grinding equipment to manufacture or restore precision components.
  • Fit and assemble machined components to close tolerances and verify that completed work meets specifications.
  • Inspect machined parts and finished products using micrometers, callipers, gauges and other precision measuring instruments; maintain and calibrate those instruments as required.
  • Document inspection results, identify and report deviations from specifications, and maintain accurate quality records and reports.

Qualifications

  • Education: Trade certificate in fitter-machinist, machining or a related trade.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of relevant experience in machining, precision manufacturing or a related trade.
  • Ability to work accurately from technical drawings and produce or inspect components to close tolerances using conventional and CNC machine tools and precision measuring instruments.
