Osmow's Cornwall is seeking an experienced and dependable Cook to join our restaurant team on a permanent, full-time basis.
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking Mediterranean-style meals and menu items in accordance with Osmow's established recipes, portion standards, food-quality requirements and food-safety procedures.
This position requires an individual who is comfortable working in a fast-paced commercial kitchen and can efficiently prepare food during lunch, dinner, evening and late-night service.
The Cook will perform the following duties:
Prepare and cook complete meals and individual dishes, including chicken shawarma, beef shawarma, falafel, rice dishes, wraps, platters, salads and other Mediterranean menu items offered by Osmow's.
Prepare meat, vegetables, sauces, rice and other ingredients required for daily restaurant operations.
Cook and prepare food according to Osmow's established recipes, preparation procedures, portion sizes and quality standards.
Operate grills, shawarma/rotisserie equipment, fryers and other commercial kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
Prepare and assemble made-to-order meals during lunch, dinner, evening and late-night service.
Monitor cooking times, food temperatures, freshness and portion sizes to ensure consistent food quality and compliance with food-safety requirements.
Determine quantities of food and ingredients required for daily operations based on customer demand, available inventory and anticipated service volumes.
Prepare sufficient quantities of food for regular service periods while minimizing unnecessary food waste.
Maintain inventory and records of food, ingredients, kitchen supplies and equipment.
Monitor stock levels and identify food ingredients, supplies and kitchen materials that require replenishment.
Assist with ordering or requesting food ingredients and kitchen supplies as required for restaurant operations.
Coordinate food preparation activities with other kitchen employees to ensure customer orders are completed accurately and efficiently.
Assist in supervising kitchen helpers and food preparation staff during assigned shifts.
Provide guidance and training to kitchen helpers and new kitchen staff regarding food preparation methods, cooking procedures, portion standards, equipment use and sanitation practices.
Inspect kitchen, food preparation and food storage areas to ensure cleanliness and compliance with applicable food-safety and sanitation standards.
Follow proper food-handling, storage, temperature-control and cross-contamination prevention procedures.
Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment.
Clean and sanitize cooking equipment, utensils, preparation surfaces and kitchen work areas as required.
Organize kitchen workflow during busy service periods to ensure efficient and timely preparation of customer orders.
Ensure food is prepared and presented in accordance with Osmow's quality and portion-control standards.
Perform other related cooking and kitchen duties consistent with the position of Cook.
Secondary (high) school graduation certificate required.
1 year to less than 2 years of relevant commercial cooking experience is required.
Experience should include preparing and cooking food in a restaurant, quick-service restaurant, commercial kitchen or similar food-service environment.
Experience preparing Mediterranean or Middle Eastern-style food is considered an asset.
Mediterranean cuisine
Experience preparing items such as shawarma, grilled meats, rice dishes, wraps, platters, falafel, salads and related menu items is an asset.
English
The successful candidate must be able to communicate effectively in English in a commercial kitchen environment, understand workplace instructions and communicate with supervisors and other team members.

The restaurant operates seven days a week and the successful candidate must be available to work a variety of scheduled shifts based on operational requirements.
