Do you have a passion for preparing authentic Indian and Pakistani cuisine? A-One Tandoori Grill LTD. is looking for an experienced Cook to join our team. We are seeking someone who takes pride in preparing traditional dishes, maintaining high food quality standards, and helping manage kitchen inventory and specialty ingredients used in Indian and Pakistani cooking.
Duties
- Position: Cook (2 Full-Time Positions)
- Location: Winnipeg, MB
- Salary: $31.50 per hour
- Hours: 35 hours per week
- Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time
- Start Date: As soon as possible
Responsibilities Includes the following:
- Prepare, cook, and present a variety of authentic Indian and Pakistani dishes, including curries, tandoori specialties, biryanis, kebabs, naan, and traditional appetizers.
- Prepare meats by trimming, cutting, marinating, seasoning, and portioning chicken, lamb, beef, goat, and other meats according to restaurant recipes.
- Prepare and cook vegetarian dishes, lentils, rice, breads, sauces, and traditional desserts.
- Plan daily food production and estimate ingredient requirements.
- Ensure consistency in food quality, portion sizes, taste, and presentation.
- Order and maintain inventory of Indian and Pakistani grocery items, including spices, lentils, rice, flours, cooking oils, fresh herbs, specialty vegetables, halal meats, frozen products, dairy products, and other restaurant supplies.
- Receive grocery deliveries, inspect product quality and freshness, rotate stock, and ensure proper storage of perishable and dry goods.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate timely ordering of specialty ingredients required for Indian and Pakistani cuisine.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and minimize food waste through effective stock management.
- Supervise and assist kitchen helpers and other kitchen staff during food preparation and service.
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment, workstations, storage areas, and food preparation areas.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
- Assist in training new kitchen staff on food preparation techniques and safe food handling practices.
Key Qualifications:
- Secondary school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 1 year to less than 2 years of commercial cooking experience.
- Experience preparing authentic Indian and Pakistani cuisine is preferred.
- Safe Food Handling Certificate is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of traditional spices, ingredients, and cooking methods used in Indian and Pakistani cuisine.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
