Job Title: Parts Service Supervisor (NOC 12013)

We operate a busy commercial truck and trailer repair facility in Langley, BC. Our large multi-bay shop and fleet of mobile service vehicles service all makes of commercial trucks and trailers, and we are certified by the CVSE to perform inspections on commercial vehicles. To minimize customer downtime, we run extended shop hours.

As Parts Service Supervisor, you will lead our parts and service administration team, overseeing parts ordering, inventory control, and the flow of work through the shop and mobile service operations. The role calls for a strong working knowledge of commercial truck and trailer parts, computerized inventory and work-order systems, and warranty and core-exchange processes.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and co-ordinate the activities of partspersons, shipping staff, and service administration staff supporting shop and mobile service operations

  • Establish work schedules and procedures for parts and service administration staff across the facility's extended operating hours, and co-ordinate activities with shop technicians and dispatch

  • Order and requisition truck and trailer parts, components, and shop supplies for all brands serviced by the facility

  • Maintain accurate inventory records of parts and consumables using computerized inventory and work order systems, and conduct cycle counts and reconciliations

  • Monitor parts availability against open work orders and scheduled CVSE inspections, and expedite sourcing of back-ordered components to minimize customer fleet downtime

  • Coordinate parts support for the mobile service fleet, ensuring service vehicles are stocked for roadside and on-site repairs

  • Resolve work-related problems, including parts sourcing delays, warranty returns, core exchanges, and supplier discrepancies, and recommend measures to improve efficiency

  • Train parts and service administration staff in job duties, inventory procedures, safety policies, and company standards

  • Maintain vendor and supplier relationships, obtain pricing, and process purchase orders and receiving documentation

  • Prepare and submit reports on inventory levels, parts usage, departmental activity, and work progress to management

  • Ensure the accuracy of service documentation, work orders, and electronic records

 

Wage/Salary: $80,000/year

Hours Per Week: 40 hours per week

Skills Requirements

Education: No Minimum Education Requirements

Work Experience: At least three years of verifiable work experience in parts, inventory control, or service administration within a commercial truck, trailer, or heavy-equipment repair setting, including a minimum of one year in a supervisory or lead role

Skills/Licensing:

  • Demonstrable knowledge of commercial truck and trailer parts and components, including engine, drive train, brake, suspension, electrical, and trailer systems, across major OEM brands such as Freightliner, Hino, International, Kenworth, Mack, Peterbilt, Volvo, and Western Star

  • Demonstrable proficiency using OEM and aftermarket parts catalogues and electronic parts lookup systems to identify and source components by VIN, make, and model

  • Demonstrable proficiency with computerized inventory management and work order management systems, including receiving, cycle counting, and reconciliation
