Carpenter Supervisor

Employer: LJH Construction Inc located at 4300 N Fraser Way, BURNABY, BC V5J 5J8

Wage: $39.00 hourly

Hours: 30 to 40 per week

Terms of employment: full-time/permanent

Experience: 2 to 3 years of experience in the carpentry trade

Education: completion of secondary school

Language: English

Work Location: Various location in lower mainland, BC

Job Duties:

  • Supervise, coordinate, and schedule the daily activities of carpenters, apprentices, and construction labourers on residential and commercial construction projects.
  • Assign work duties, monitor progress, and ensure projects are completed according to construction schedules, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and project plans to organize work activities and allocate labour efficiently.
  • Establish work methods and coordinate carpentry activities with other trades, subcontractors, suppliers, and project managers.
  • Inspect completed carpentry work to ensure compliance with building codes, company standards, and client requirements.
  • Order and requisition construction materials, tools, and equipment, and maintain adequate inventory for project needs.
  • Resolve job-site issues, provide technical guidance to workers, and recommend measures to improve productivity and work quality.
  • Train, mentor, and oversee carpenters, apprentices, and new employees in safe work practices and proper construction techniques.
  • Enforce workplace health and safety regulations, conduct site safety inspections, and ensure the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Prepare work schedules, daily progress reports, time records, and other project documentation for management.
  • Recommend hiring, performance evaluations, promotions, and disciplinary actions as required.
  • Coordinate project completion activities and ensure work is delivered on time and within project specifications.
