Drywall Installer & Finisher

Work Sites: Various residential and commercial construction sites throughout Kamloops and surrounding areas.

Employment Type: Permanent, Full-time

Wage: $30.00 per hour

Hours of Work: 35–40 hours per week

Main Duties

  • Measure, cut, fit and install drywall sheets on walls and ceilings.
  • Position and securely fasten drywall panels to wood or metal studs and joists using hand and power tools.
  • Install resilient channels, metal framing components and corner beads.
  • Cut and install metal corner beads to reinforce and protect outside corners.
  • Tape joints using hand tools or taping machines and embed tape in joint compound.
  • Fill joints, nail indentations, holes and cracks with joint compound using trowels and broad knives.
  • Apply successive coats of joint compound and sand seams and joints to obtain a smooth finish.
  • Apply and match textured finishes to walls and ceilings.
  • Repair damaged drywall, patch holes and restore existing finishes.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure it meets quality standards and project specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and work orders.
  • Maintain tools, equipment and a clean, safe work area.
  • Follow company safety procedures and WorkSafeBC regulations at all times.

Job Requirements

Education

  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.

Experience

  • Minimum one year of related work experience as a Drywall Installer and Finisher.
  • Additional Skills
  • Ability to accurately measure and estimate material requirements.
  • Experience using drywall lifts, screw guns, taping tools, sanders and other drywall equipment.
  • Knowledge of drywall finishing techniques and texture matching.
  • Ability to read construction drawings and follow specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship.
  • Physically fit and capable of lifting heavy materials and working at heights.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills and commitment to workplace safety.
