Job Requirements
Languages: English
Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years
Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years of experience working in a licensed childcare centre
On site: Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely.
Work setting: Day care centre or nursery school
Supervision: 5-10 people
Tasks
- Coordinate and oversee the daily operation of childcare programs while ensuring compliance with CEFA educational standards and Ontario licensing regulations.
- Support the implementation of CEFA's inquiry-based curriculum and ensure consistent delivery across all classrooms.
- Supervise and mentor Early Childhood Educators and classroom staff through coaching, performance feedback, and ongoing support.
- Coordinate staff schedules, classroom ratios, breaks, and daily centre operations.
- Conduct classroom observations and quality assurance reviews to maintain high educational standards.
- Ensure compliance with the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA), Ministry of Education regulations, health and safety policies, and licensing requirements.
- Assist with Ministry inspections, licensing visits, and implementation of compliance measures.
- Coordinate program planning, classroom resources, and educational materials.
- Welcome prospective families by conducting daycare tours, explaining CEFA's educational philosophy, and answering parent inquiries.
- Manage new child registrations, enrollment documentation, waitlists, and orientation for new families.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with parents through regular communication, progress updates, and resolution of concerns.
- Assist with marketing initiatives and community outreach activities to support enrolment growth.
- Maintain children's records, attendance, incident reports, and confidential administrative files.
- Monitor health, safety, sanitation, nutrition, and emergency procedures throughout the centre.
- Assist in recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and training new educators and support staff.
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development sessions.
- Collaborate with the Centre Director to improve program quality, operational efficiency, occupancy, and family satisfaction.
- Perform other administrative and program coordination duties as assigned.
Experience
- Previous experience in a leadership, supervisory, or program coordination role is preferred.
- Previous experience working at a CEFA (Core Education & Fine Arts) centre is considered a strong asset
- Experience conducting parent tours, managing enrolments, and supporting centre administration is highly desirable.
Licences & Certifications
- Registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE), where applicable.
- CEFA Qualified Teacher certification/training is considered a strong asset.
- Valid Standard First Aid & CPR Level C certification.
- Valid Food Handler Certificate is considered an asset.
- Current Vulnerable Sector Check (Police Clearance).
- Up-to-date immunization records as required under Ontario childcare regulations.
