POSITION OVERVIEW

Schott's Lake Conference & Resort is a full-service resort destination nestled in the scenic foothills of Alberta, offering conference facilities, outdoor recreation, and hospitality services to guests year-round. We are currently seeking a dedicated and skilled Cook to join our culinary team and contribute to delivering exceptional dining experiences for our guests.

JOB DUTIES

  • Prepare and cook a variety of meals including breakfast, lunch, and dinner for resort guests, conference attendees, and event participants
  • Plan and execute menus suited to a resort environment, including buffet-style service, à la carte, and catered banquet meals
  • Ensure all food is prepared and presented to the resort's quality and presentation standards
  • Operate and maintain kitchen equipment including grills, ovens, fryers, steamers, and food processors in a safe and efficient manner
  • Monitor food inventory, assist with ordering supplies, and minimize waste through proper stock rotation and storage practices
  • Adhere strictly to food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards in accordance with Alberta Health Services regulations
  • Assist in preparing for large-scale events, seasonal banquets, and outdoor catering functions held on resort grounds
  • Collaborate with kitchen team members and resort management to coordinate meal timings during peak periods
  • Adapt recipes and portion sizes as required to accommodate dietary restrictions or special guest requests
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, food prep areas, and cold storage at all times
  • Perform other related kitchen duties as assigned by the Head Chef or Kitchen Supervisor

 

 

 

SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • Completion of high school (secondary school diploma) is required
  • Formal culinary training or completion of a cook apprenticeship program is considered a strong asset

 

Work Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience working as a Cook in a restaurant, hotel, resort, or similar food service environment
  • Experience in high-volume or banquet cooking is an asset

 

Skills & Competencies:

  • Solid knowledge of cooking methods, food preparation techniques, and kitchen equipment
  • Familiarity with food safety practices and HACCP principles
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced resort environment, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
