Annual Salary Range: $73,000 – $77,688 per year ($37.20/hour × 37.5 hours/week) ($0.62 per mile (equivalent to $37.20/hour based on average 60 miles/hour)
Job Duties
- Operate long-haul tractor-trailer units on cross-border Canada–USA routes in compliance with all applicable federal and provincial transportation regulations.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle in accordance with National Safety Code (NSC) standards and company safety protocols.
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of logbooks, trip inspection reports, bills of lading, and all required documentation.
- Transport a variety of freight including general cargo, ensuring proper securement of loads in compliance with cargo securement regulations.
- Communicate proactively with dispatch regarding route progress, delays, mechanical issues, or any incidents encountered during transit.
- Adhere strictly to Hours of Service (HOS) regulations as prescribed by Transport Canada and applicable US Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) rules.
- Maintain the assigned vehicle in clean and roadworthy condition; report maintenance requirements to management promptly.
- Cross international borders in compliance with customs regulations and present all required documentation to border authorities.
- Follow all company policies, health and safety procedures, and applicable traffic laws at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management related to the safe and efficient operation of the vehicle.
- Completion of secondary school (high school diploma or equivalent) is required.
- Completion of a recognized truck driver training program is an asset.
Skills Requirements
Education
Work Experience
- Minimum 2 years of verifiable long-haul truck driving experience operating tractor-trailers.
- Experience with Canada–USA cross-border routes is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of HOS regulations under Transport Canada and FMCSA rules.
- Experience with Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs) is required.
Licences & Certifications
- Valid Class 1 (A) driver’s licence with a clean driving abstract.
- Valid FAST card (Free and Secure Trade) or ability to obtain one is an asset.
- Valid passport or NEXUS card for cross-border travel.
- Air brake endorsement (Z) is required.
