SQ DIAMOND HOMES LTD is seeking a skilled, dependable, and detail-oriented carpenter to join our growing team. In this role, you will participate in all phases of residential construction, including framing, structural installations, renovations, finishing work, and other carpentry-related tasks. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality workmanship on every project while helping to maintain and enhance the company's reputation for excellence in craftsmanship, professionalism, and customer satisfaction.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, architectural drawings, building plans, specifications, and project documents to determine construction requirements, dimensions, material needs, and installation procedures.
- Measure, mark, cut, shape, fit, assemble, and install wood, engineered wood products and other construction materials using hand tools, power tools, and specialized carpentry equipment.
- Construct, erect, install, maintain, and repair structural frameworks and building components, including floor systems, wall assemblies, roof structures, stairways, partitions, decks, and other residential construction elements.
- Perform rough carpentry work, including layout, framing, and installation of floors, walls, ceilings, roof trusses, rafters, and structural supports for residential home construction projects.
- Carry out finish carpentry work, including the installation of doors, windows, trim, moldings, baseboards, cabinetry, shelving, and other interior and exterior finishing materials to achieve a high-quality appearance and fit.
- Install, repair, and replace roofing materials, exterior siding systems, soffits, fascia, and weather-resistant building components in accordance with manufacturer specifications and building code requirements.
- Assist in the construction, installation, alignment, and removal of concrete forms for foundations, footings, walls, columns, and slabs, ensuring proper dimensions and structural integrity.
- Perform residential renovation, remodeling, maintenance, and repair work, including demolition, reconstruction, alterations, and upgrades to existing homes and structures.
- Verify measurements, elevations, alignments, and completed installations to ensure work meets project specifications, applicable building codes, safety regulations, and company quality standards.
- Operate, inspect, maintain, and safely use a variety of hand tools, power tools, ladders, scaffolding, and construction equipment required to perform carpentry and general construction activities.
- Coordinate and communicate with supervisors, project managers, subcontractors, suppliers, and other trades to ensure work is completed efficiently, safely, and according to project schedules.
- Load, unload, transport, and organize construction materials, equipment, and tools at job sites while ensuring materials are properly stored and protected from damage.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment by performing regular site housekeeping and adhering to established safety procedures.
- Follow company policies, workplace health and safety regulations, and safe work practices, including the proper use of personal protective equipment and fall protection systems when required.
- Identify construction deficiencies, material shortages, equipment issues, and workplace hazards, and promptly report concerns to supervisors while assisting in implementing corrective actions.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned by the project manager to support the successful completion of construction projects.
Employment Requirements
- Completion of secondary school (high school diploma).
- Minimum of five years of hands-on experience in carpentry, including millwork, framing, renovations, and general construction in residential and/or commercial environments.
- Demonstrated experience in residential framing, structural and finish carpentry, and home construction projects is strongly preferred.
- Experience with roofing, siding installation, renovations, and other general construction activities is considered an asset.
- Proven ability to read, interpret, and work from blueprints, architectural drawings, construction plans, and technical specifications.
- Thorough knowledge of carpentry techniques, construction methods, building materials, and applicable building codes and safety regulations.
- Proficiency in the safe operation and maintenance of hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment commonly used in carpentry work.
- Strong mathematical and measurement skills, with the ability to accurately calculate dimensions, quantities, and material requirements.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while effectively contributing as part of a construction team.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to producing high-quality workmanship.
- Physical ability to perform demanding construction tasks, including lifting, carrying, climbing, kneeling, bending, and working at heights when required.
- Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation are considered assets.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to accurately understand and follow instructions.
- Demonstrated commitment to workplace health and safety practices and the proper use of personal protective equipment

Hours of Work: 30 to 40 hours per week
Wage: $36.00 to $46.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications
Work Location: Various residential and commercial construction sites in Windsor, Ontario and surrounding areas
