Job Summary
Richmond Medical Pharmacy is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technical Assistant to support pharmacists in the preparation, dispensing, and management of prescription medications while ensuring compliance with pharmacy standards and patient care requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Receive and process prescription orders under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Verify prescription information for completeness and accuracy.
- Enter patient and prescription information into pharmacy software systems.
- Prepare, package, label, and dispense medications as directed by the pharmacist.
- Assist pharmacists in maintaining accurate prescription records and patient profiles.
- Maintain inventory levels of medications and pharmaceutical products.
- Order, receive, stock, and organize pharmaceutical supplies.
- Compound pharmaceutical products by measuring, mixing, and preparing medications in accordance with established procedures and pharmacist instructions.
- Process third-party insurance claims and prescription billing.
- Respond to routine customer inquiries and refer clinical questions to the pharmacist.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with privacy legislation.
- Ensure compliance with pharmacy policies, health and safety regulations, and quality assurance standards.
- Perform general administrative duties related to pharmacy operations.
Employment Requirements
Education
- Completion of a pharmacy assistant/pharmacy technician program OR
- Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy
Experience
- Minimum 2 years to less than 3 years of experience in a community or retail pharmacy setting.
Skills
- Knowledge of pharmacy software and database systems.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
