Northern Equipment Services Inc. is an industrial services company providing support to construction, mining, and resource-sector clients across Northeastern Ontario. We are currently seeking Construction Trades Helpers and Labourers to assist in various field operations including hydro-excavation, non-destructive digging, industrial vacuuming, and site preparation activities.
Job Description:
The selected candidate will assist skilled tradespersons and heavy equipment operators at construction sites, industrial facilities, and surface mining locations. Duties include loading and unloading materials, setting up and dismantling worksite structures, assisting with excavation and utility daylighting, operating basic tools and equipment, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. The role also involves debris removal, site cleanup, and supporting routine maintenance tasks.
Job Duties:
- Load, unload, and transport construction materials
- Assist in erecting and dismantling scaffolding, forms, ramps, and barricades
- Assist equipment operators and tradespersons
- Support hydro-excavation and industrial vacuum operations
- Clean and prepare job sites, including debris and hazard removal
- Direct traffic near construction sites when required
- Perform routine maintenance and general labour duties
Skills and Requirements:
- Ability to perform physically demanding work
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
- Basic knowledge of hand tools and construction equipment is an asset
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to safety
Qualifications:
- No formal education required
- Previous experience in construction or industrial labour is an asset but not required
- On-the-job training will be provided
Work Conditions:
- Outdoors, industrial and construction environments
- Exposure to heights, confined spaces, noise, dust, and varying weather conditions
- Physically demanding, including lifting up to 23 kg (50 lbs)
Transportation and Travel:
- Valid driver’s licence is an asset
- Willingness to travel to various job sites across Northeastern Ontario
- Travel expenses paid by employer
