We are currently seeking a full-time Veterinary Technician to join our dedicated and growing team. The ideal candidate for this position should be passionate about animals and should demonstrate a strong interest in animal health. The role involves working in a clinical veterinary setting where accuracy, teamwork, and attention to animal welfare are essential. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering exceptional patient care and enhancing the client experience.

Position Description

 

Position:  Veterinary Technician

Type of employment: Full-Time; Permanent

No of positions: 2

Anticipated Start date: As soon as possible

Salary: $23.00 per hour

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Assist veterinarians with animals before, during, and following surgery.
  • Handle, restrain, and care for animals undergoing any type of procedure or treatment.
  • Prepare and administer medications and vaccines under the direction of the veterinarian and administer treatments as prescribed.
  • Take X-rays, place IV catheters, collect samples and perform laboratory tests to help in diagnosis of animal health problems and possible treatment.
  • Provide nursing care to animals during recovery and rehabilitation.
  • Communicate with clients on animal health care and provide home care instructions after discharge.
  • Maintain accurate animal medical records by documenting conditions, treatments, reactions, and updates in the clinic database.
  • Perform routine animal dental procedures and assist veterinarians with animal dentistry.
  • Perform other office management and clerical duties as assigned.
  • Maintaining a collaborative and supportive team atmosphere and assisting other staff members as required.

 

Qualification & Requirements

 

  • Education (diploma/degree) in health/veterinary technology/science. 
  • Experience as a Veterinary Technician would be an asset.
  • Strong communication skills when dealing with both clients and staff.
  • Strong knowledge of animal anatomy.
  • Genuine care and compassion for animals.
  • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to handle animals calmly and patiently.
  • Demonstrates enthusiasm, energy, and a positive attitude.
    • Upholding ethical standards and maintaining confidentiality regarding patient information
    • Analyze situations thoughtfully and react appropriately during emergencies or unforeseen circumstances.
