Job Description
The Shift Supervisor is responsible for ensuring an excellent guest experience by leading and coordinating the restaurant team during assigned shifts. This role ensures that all operations meet company standards, food safety regulations, and customer service expectations.
The Shift Supervisor leads by example, supports team members, and ensures smooth daily operations, including when upper management is not present.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, coordinate, and schedule the activities of food service staff
- Ensure guests receive prompt, friendly, and high-quality service
- Maintain standards for food quality, cleanliness, and speed of service
- Assign duties, manage breaks, and monitor team performance
- Train new employees and provide ongoing coaching
- Address customer complaints and resolve issues professionally
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and workplace safety standards
- Monitor inventory, minimize waste, and ensure proper cash handling procedures
- Assist in hiring processes, including screening applicants
- Support management in daily and weekly operational tasks
- Lead restaurant operations independently when required
Work Conditions & Schedule
- Flexible schedule required as shifts include mornings, days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Work in a fast-paced environment with standing for extended periods
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Requirements
- Secondary (high school) education required
- At least 2 years of related experience
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
- Ability to handle customer concerns professionally
- Reliable and punctual
Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly wage: $19.20 with annual increase as per company policy
- Minimum 40 hours per week
- 4% vacation pay
- $600 per year for medical expense allowance after one year
- Overtime pay as per Ontario Employment Standards
