We are currently seeking a professional and organized Accounting Supervisor to join our firm and support our growing accounting and tax practice.

 

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Oversee and coordinate the day-to-day operations of accounting functions, including general accounting, accounts payable, payroll, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  2. Supervise and oversee the daily work of administrative and junior accounting staff to ensure accuracy, productivity, and timely completion of client files.
  3. Ensure timely month-end and year-end closing and maintain service quality and compliance standards.
  4. Assign, coordinate, and, where necessary, assist with work related to bookkeeping, payroll processing, tax filings, government remittances, and year-end reporting, including T4 and T5 reporting.
  5. Coordinate and review the preparation and filing of personal, corporate, and trust income tax returns, along with specialized tax filings such as T1134, T1135, T2054, T2062, T2062A, T1-OVP, and SR&ED-related submissions.
  6. Provide guidance and support to staff on accounting and tax files in accordance with firm procedures and applicable requirements.
  7. Coordinate and review compilation working papers, year-end files, and financial statement packages for corporations and trusts to ensure that client deliverables are properly prepared and ready for final review.
  8. Communicate with the CRA on behalf of clients to respond to audits, supporting document submissions, follow-up requests, and tax-related issue resolution.
  9. Respond to client inquiries in a timely manner and provide value-added support on accounting, taxation, and financial matters.
  10. Prepare and submit progress updates, workload reports, and other internal reports as required, and assist in maintaining the smooth operation of office systems and client file processing.
  11. Resolve work-related issues and respond to internal accounting-related inquiries in a timely manner.
  12. May provide training, guidance, and day-to-day support to staff on accounting procedures, compliance requirements, and client file handling.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education:

A college diploma in accounting, bookkeeping, accounting technology, or a closely related field.

Experience:

  • 1 year to less than 2 years of related experience is required.
  • Experience in a public accounting firm or tax and accounting practice is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with personal, corporate, and trust income tax returns, payroll processing, government remittances, and year-end reporting is preferred.
  • Experience with specialized tax filings such as T1134, T1135, T2054, T2062, T2062A, T1-OVP, and SR&ED-related submissions is preferred.
