Job Description

MYC Graphics Inc. is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CNC Machinist to join our production team. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC router machines and related equipment in a fast-paced print and fabrication environment. This role requires strong technical knowledge, organizational skills, and the ability to meet tight production deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

Machine Setup & Operation

  • Set up and operate CNC routers for precision cutting, engraving, and shaping of signage materials including ACM (Aluminum Composite), acrylic, PVC, HDU, aluminum, polycarbonate, foam board, and wood.
  • Load and secure sheets using vacuum tables, clamps, or fixtures while ensuring proper material alignment.
  • Select and install correct router bits, drills, and cutting tools for each material and operation.
  • Adjust spindle speeds, feed rates, and cutting depths to ensure optimal cutting quality and efficiency.

CAM / Toolpath Preparation

  • Import and prepare CNC files from Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW, or CAD/CAM software (EnRoute, VCarve, Aspire, Fusion, or similar).
  • Generate and verify toolpaths, cut order, tabs, pocketing, and engraving operations.
  • Ensure correct material thickness settings and tool offsets before running production jobs.
  • Review files for potential issues that could cause tool collisions, improper cuts, or wasted materials.

Signage Fabrication Processes

  • Cut and machine components for dimensional signage, panel systems, and fabricated sign structures.
  • Produce parts for channel letters, push-through acrylic letters, cabinet signs, routed letters, and logo shapes.
  • Machine ACM panels for sign faces, backers, and architectural cladding systems.
  • Route PVC or HDU dimensional letters and shapes for painted signage.
  • Produce acrylic inserts, stencils, and template components used in signage manufacturing.

Sheet Optimization & Material Efficiency

  • Nest parts efficiently to maximize sheet usage and minimize material waste.
  • Plan cutting layouts for large-format sheets (4?8, 5?10, etc.).
  • Track material usage and identify opportunities to reduce waste and improve yield.

Quality Control

  • Verify finished parts for accurate dimensions, smooth edges, and correct profiles.
  • Inspect routing quality to ensure no burning, melting, or chipping of materials.
  • Confirm finished components match design files and production specifications.

Machine Maintenance & Tool Management

  • Perform routine maintenance including cleaning vacuum beds, checking lubrication, and inspecting machine components.
  • Monitor tool wear and replace bits or tooling when needed to maintain cut quality.
  • Maintain inventory of commonly used router bits, drill bits, and cutting tools.

Production Coordination

  • Collaborate with designers, fabricators, and installers to ensure parts are produced according to project requirements.
  • Follow production schedules and prioritize jobs to maintain workflow efficiency.
  • Label, organize, and prepare finished parts for assembly, painting, or installation.

Safety & Shop Standards

  • Operate CNC equipment in accordance with shop safety procedures and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Use proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintain a clean work environment.
  • Ensure all materials are handled safely and equipment is used responsibly.

Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve cutting efficiency, material usage, and machine productivity.
  • Assist in developing standardized machining procedures for recurring signage products.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • College Diploma or Equivalent
