Position Overview
Nations Fresh Foods is seeking a research-driven and analytical Marketing Analyst to support strategic business planning and expansion initiatives across its multi-location supermarket operations.
This role focuses on conducting structured market research, demographic and economic analysis, and competitive assessments to provide evidence-based recommendations that support pricing strategy, operational planning, and future store development.
The position plays an advisory role to senior management by preparing feasibility studies, business case analyses, and analytical reports that inform long-term growth and market positioning decisions.
While primarily based at our Vaughan location, the position supports all store locations and requires periodic site visits.
Key Responsibilities
Core Research & Analytical Responsibilities
- Design and conduct structured market research studies to analyze consumer behavior, demographic trends, and competitive conditions in the grocery retail sector
- Collect, compile, and statistically analyze sales, pricing, and market data to identify trends and business opportunities
- Develop consumer and trade-area demographic profiles for each store location
- Conduct competitive market analysis, including pricing structures, product assortment comparisons, and regional market positioning
- Prepare formal research reports, analytical summaries, and strategic recommendations for senior management
- Evaluate operational and market data to support evidence-based business planning
- Provide advisory input to management on pricing strategy, product positioning, and market expansion decisions
Expansion & Business Development (Project-Based)
- Conduct market feasibility studies and economic assessments for proposed new store locations
- Analyze population density, income distribution, traffic patterns, and competitor saturation in targeted trade areas
- Prepare business case analyses, projected sales modeling, and risk assessments for expansion initiatives
- Provide research-based recommendations to support site selection and long-term development planning
(These responsibilities arise during expansion planning phases and are not daily operational tasks.)
Travel Requirement
Although primarily based at the Vaughan location, this role requires periodic visits to other store locations and potential new sites to:
- Conduct on-site market assessments
- Evaluate store-level marketing effectiveness
- Analyze surrounding competitive environments
A valid Ontario driver’s license and reliable transportation are required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Statistics, Commerce, or a related analytical field
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in market research, business analysis, economic analysis, or retail analytics
- Knowledge of grocery retail operations, pricing structures, and consumer purchasing patterns is required.
- Demonstrated experience designing and conducting structured research studies or feasibility assessments
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with ability to interpret large data sets and develop evidence-based recommendations
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including data modeling, pivot tables, and financial projections); experience with statistical or data analysis tools is an asset
- Experience preparing formal analytical reports, business case analyses, or strategic recommendations for management
- Valid Ontario driver’s license and ability to travel between locations as required
