A private home is seeking a Caregiver to care for two children, one newborn and one toddler, at their home in Newmarket, Ontario. This is a permanent, full-time position of 40 hours/week with an hourly salary of $20.85. Regular working hours will vary as it will depend on the parents’ work schedules but will be communicated in advance. Some evening and weekend shifts may be necessary. Additionally, overtime will be occasionally required, which will be paid at a rate of 1.5x after 44 hours. The primary language of work for the position is English.

 

The main responsibilities of the position include:

                                                         

  • Supervising and caring for a newborn and toddler in the employer’s residence, ensuring safety and well-being at all times.  
  • Sterilizing feeding equipment and preparing infant formula/bottles.  
  • Changing diapers and assisting with bathroom activities.  
  • Managing naps and sleep routines.  
  • Bathing, dressing, and feeding the children.  
  • Planning, preparing, and serving nutritious meals and snacks.  
  • Organizing and implementing age‑appropriate activities (songs, sensory play, reading, crafts, outdoor walks) to support physical, social, and cognitive development.  
  • Maintaining a safe and clean environment for the children.
  • Tidying children’s areas.
  • Laundering children’s clothing and linens.  
  • Tending to the emotional well-being of the children and supporting their social development.  
  • Reinforcing positive behavior and follow parents’ guidance on routines and discipline.  
  • Keeping simple daily records of meals, naps, activities, and health information, and reporting any concerns to parents.  
  • Accompanying the toddler to/from nearby programs, playgroups, or appointments as needed.  
  • Performing light housekeeping related to the children (e.g., dishwashing after meals, bottle prep/clean‑up).

 

You must have the following qualifications:

 

  • Experience working with or caring for infants and toddlers  
  • Current CPR/First Aid for infants/children accredited by body in Canada
  • Experience supporting children with daily routines, developing nutritional meals for children, and hygiene
  • Experience ensuring children’s safety and well-being
  • Experience providing patient, responsible, and nurturing care
  • Experience maintaining clean and organized environments for children
  • Available nights to help/support with nighttime feeding and support on an ad hoc basis
