Job Description

  • Hand-harvest ripe blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries carefully to minimize bruising and maintain premium fruit quality
  • Inspect, sort, and grade berries based on size, colour, firmness, ripeness, and established quality standards
  • Remove overripe, underripe, damaged, or unmarketable fruit during harvesting and packing
  • Pack berries into approved containers, ensuring accurate weights, proper labeling, and secure stacking for cooling, storage, and transport
  • Load, unload, move, and organize harvest bins, crates, packaging materials, and harvested produce for processing and shipment
  • Clean and sanitize harvest bins, trays, racks, packing tables, and work areas to maintain food safety and hygiene standards
  • Perform pruning tasks, including removing dead, damaged, or excess canes and branches to promote plant health, airflow, and improved berry production, under supervisor guidance
  • Assist with plant maintenance activities such as tying canes, adjusting supports, spacing growth, and clearing weeds and debris around bushes
  • Monitor crops for signs of pests, disease, mold, or nutrient deficiencies and report concerns to the supervisor
  • Support irrigation activities by checking water lines and ensuring proper moisture levels for optimal plant growth
  • Operate basic farm tools and equipment safely and perform routine cleaning and upkeep
  • Follow supervisor instructions, farm procedures, and workplace health and safety policies at all times
  • Provide assistance with packing line operations and other farm duties as required during pre-harvest preparation and post-harvest handling activities.
