Employment Details

  • Wage: $37.50 – $40.00 hourly (to be negotiated)

  • Hours: 30 to 40 hours per week

  • Employment Type: Permanent, Full-time

  • Start Date: As soon as possible

  • Work Arrangement: On site only (no remote option)

Education

  • College diploma in Accounting or a related field, obtained from a recognized Canadian college

 


 

Experience

  • 3 years or more experience in a bookkeeping or accounting technician role

  • Prior automotive dealership bookkeeping experience, especially used car operations

  • Solid understanding of:

    • Used vehicle gross profit calculations, including front gross, back gross, and sales commissions

    • Floor plan interest and inventory financing accounting

    • Trade-in vehicles and negative equity treatment

    • Accounting for warranty, GAP, F&I products, administration fees, and related dealership revenue items

 


 

Job Responsibilities

The Senior Bookkeeper will be responsible for full-cycle bookkeeping and dealership-specific accounting, including but not limited to:

  • Maintain full-cycle bookkeeping including general ledger, journal entries, reconciliations, month-end and year-end closing

  • Prepare financial reports, internal statements, and management summaries

  • Perform manual bookkeeping and reconciliations within dealership management systems

  • Track and reconcile sales, inventory-related transactions, and financing records

  • Support compliance with internal controls and accounting procedures

  • Calculate payroll-related amounts and prepare cheques for payroll, utilities, tax remittances, and other business expenses, ensuring proper accounting treatment within the general ledger and month-end closing process.

 


 

Computer and Technology Knowledge

  • MS Excel

  • MS Word

  • MS PowerPoint – ability to prepare professional financial summary presentations with charts and comparative analysis for quarterly shareholder meetings

  • Dealership & Industry-Specific Systems:

  • Dealertrack – reconciling lender-approved contracts, vehicle financing, and funding

  • OPENLANE and EBlock – reviewing auction purchase costs, fees, and sales records

  • CDK Global (including CDK Drive Simple ID) and One-Eighty:

  • Manual bookkeeping 

  • General ledger maintenance

  • Monthly and year-end closing

  • Financial reporting
