Job Description:
Board-Certified Veterinary Orthopaedic Surgeon (ACVS or ECVS)
Full-Time | Referral Orthopaedics | Research & Innovation Focus

Caledon Mountain Veterinary Hospital (CMVH) is a privately owned, AAHA-accredited small animal referral and surgical hospital with a strong orthopaedic identity and a deep commitment to evidence-based medicine, innovation, and patient-centered care. We are seeking a full-time ACVS or ECVS-boarded surgeon with a primary focus on orthopaedics to join our growing service.

This role is ideal for a surgeon who enjoys complex cases, values collaboration, and wants to contribute to the ongoing evolution of orthopaedic care through both clinical excellence and research. This position emphasizes advanced clinical care, client communication, evidence-based medicine, and active participation in innovation and research.

Candidate Qualifications
●Board-certified (ACVS or ECVS)
●Strong experience in orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery
●Advanced fracture management experience, including complex internal fixation and revision cases
●Extensive experience in stifle surgery, including TPLO, meniscal pathology, and revision procedures
●Comfortable managing angular limb and limb deformities
●Interest in or experience with total joint replacement preferred
●Interest in case complexity, innovation, and advancing orthopaedic standards of care

CMVH is purpose-built for referral surgery and equipped with advanced imaging, arthroscopy, and fracture management systems. We actively support research, publication development, and collaboration with academic and industry partners.

●Intraoperative CR fluoroscopy
●4K Arthrex arthroscopy system
●NanoScope arthroscopy (including fracture applications)
●Comprehensive fracture fixation systems (I-Lock, Synthes-style instrumentation, titanium locking plates,Arthrex fracture systems)
●Multiple TPLO systems

Research & Academic Support
Applicants with prior publications or current research involvement are strongly encouraged.

Practice Model
●A consistent orthopaedic referral caseload averaging 4–6 procedures per day, supporting both efficiency and careful case management
●No emergency or after-hours responsibilities
●Outpatient case management
●Strong referral base across the GTA and Northern Ontario

Responsibilities
•Diagnose diseases or abnormal conditions in individual animals, herds and flocks through physical examinations or laboratory tests
•Treat sick or injured animals by prescribing medication, setting bones, dressing wounds or performing surgery
•Administer budget
•Vaccinate animals to prevent and treat diseases
•Advise clients on feeding, housing, behavior, breeding, hygiene and general care of animals
•Conduct veterinary research related to areas such as animal nutrition, health care products development and disease prevention and control
•Enforce government regulations in disease control and food production including animal or animal-based food inspection
•Perform routine, emergency and post-mortem examinations
•Provide a range of veterinary services including obstetrics, dentistry and euthanasia
•Responsible for overall operation of animal hospital, clinic or mobile service to farms
•Supervise animal health technologists and animal care workers
•Collaborate with members of an interdisciplinary health team




Job Requirements:
Education

Degree in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine or optometry

Experience

5 years or more
