Job Description
YST Auto Body is an Ontario-based automobile repair facility that works closely with major Canadian automobile insurance providers to deliver a smooth, efficient, and hassle-free claims and repair experience for our customers. We are seeking an experienced Auto Body Damage Estimator who can independently assess vehicle damage, prepare accurate repair estimates, coordinate repair activities, and manage insurance-related communication within the Ontario automotive repair environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Examine damaged vehicles to determine repair requirements, labour needs, materials, and estimated repair timelines
- Prepare detailed written damage reports and repair estimates in accordance with automotive repair standards and insurance claim procedures commonly used in Ontario
- Coordinate repair plans and workflows with auto body technicians to ensure estimates, parts availability, and repair schedules are aligned
- Communicate clearly with customers by explaining damage assessments, repair procedures, timelines, and insurance-related steps to ensure a smooth and transparent claims process
- Liaise with automobile insurance providers operating in Canada regarding claims, approvals, supplements, and related documentation
- Source and order auto body parts and materials through established automotive parts suppliers, ensuring timely delivery and cost efficiency
- Maintain accurate repair documentation, obtain required customer authorizations and signatures, and ensure records are complete and compliant
- Monitor completed repairs to ensure workmanship, appearance, and overall quality meet company and industry standards
- Ensure all estimating and repair coordination activities comply with applicable automotive safety regulations and industry standards
Requirements
Language
Education
- Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
Experience
- 2 years to less than 3 years of experience as an auto body damage estimator or in a related automotive repair role
- Experience working with Ontario automobile insurance claims, repair estimating, and repair coordination
- Ability to independently manage repair estimates, insurance correspondence, and parts ordering in a fast-paced repair environment
- Experience using Mitchell Cloud Estimating and Mitchell RepairCenter or similar auto body estimating systems
- Knowledge of automotive parts sourcing, pricing, and availability within the Canadian auto repair market
