Mill Electrician

Duties:
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair industrial electrical systems and equipment used throughout log breakdown, sawmilling, planer mill, and finished lumber operations.
- Inspect, test, and service electric motors, motor control centers (MCCs), variable frequency drives (VFDs), starters, sensors, and industrial control panels.
- Diagnose and correct electrical faults affecting conveyors, sorters, saw lines, planers, edgers, stackers, and material-handling systems.
- Install, terminate, and maintain power distribution systems, including switchgear, transformers, panel boards, breakers, and grounding systems.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and PLC I/O documentation to support troubleshooting and upgrades.
- Perform preventive and predictive electrical maintenance to minimize downtime and ensure consistent production of high-quality finished lumber.
- Install and maintain industrial wiring systems, including conduit, cable trays, armored cable, and control wiring in a mill environment.
- Test electrical systems using appropriate diagnostic tools to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Support equipment start-ups, shutdowns, and production changeovers from an electrical standpoint.
- Coordinate work activities with millwrights, supervisors, and production staff during scheduled maintenance and breakdowns.
- Ensure all work complies with the Canadian Electrical Code, provincial regulations, and company safety standards.
- Follow lock-out/tag-out procedures and all occupational health and safety requirements.
- Maintain electrical tools, testing equipment, and detailed maintenance records.
