Position Overview – Retail Store Supervisor

We are currently seeking a Retail Store Supervisor to join our Canco Chemainus team. The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, and motivated, with strong leadership skills to support daily store operations. In this role, you will supervise staff, oversee inventory, monitor cash-handling procedures, ensure efficient customer service, and maintain store presentation and safety standards. You will also assist with scheduling, training new team members, and ensuring compliance with company policies. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic retail environment and is committed to creating a positive experience for both customers and employees.

Salary: $25.00-28.00 per hour

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise the store team; assign daily tasks and create work schedules to ensure efficient store operations.
  • Monitor team performance, maintain productivity levels, and uphold exceptional customer service standards.
  • Respond to customer inquiries, assist with requests, and resolve complaints in a professional and timely manner.
  • Oversee financial transactions, including authorizing payments, processing returns, reconciling cash, and ensuring accurate cash-handling procedures.
  • Manage inventory by monitoring stock levels, coordinating merchandise replenishment, and minimizing shortages or overstock.
  • Maintain store presentation standards, including product displays, signage, cleanliness, and overall store appearance.
  • Prepare and review reports related to sales performance, operational metrics, and team productivity.
  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, and training new team members to support a high-performing work environment.
  • Perform key store operations such as opening and closing procedures, managing deliveries, and addressing operational issues as they arise.
  • Assist in implementing marketing initiatives, promotional activities, and seasonal campaigns to support sales growth and customer engagement.
  • Perform cashier duties when required.
  • Perform other related duties to support the smooth and efficient running of the store.

 

Job Requirements

  • Completion of secondary school.
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar retail or customer-facing role.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with customers and team members.
  • Proven leadership abilities and confidence in guiding and supporting staff.
  • Excellent customer service orientation with the ability to handle inquiries and resolve issues effectively.
  • Strong multitasking skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a busy environment.
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays as required.
